The games of yesteryears
Go outside and play! Cross stitch designer Perrette Samouiloff recalls the games of yesteryear, one devoted to croquet, with children criss crossing their wooden mallets as they stuggle to get the ball through the hoop. The other features the many old-fashioned games that kept children busy walking on stilts, skipping with a rope, rocking on a see-saw, riding a bicycle, balancing on a board, playing with skittles, testing their skills with a diabolo, a yoyo, a bilboquet or juggling balls, as well as playing a game of badmington.

I love Paris in the Springtime
Ask a Parisian about their childhood memories, and they will recall the many hours spent playing in the Paris parks, and for Perrette Samouiloff, the Jardin du Luxembourg specifically. This design focuses on the many areas of the parc, the quiet chairs near the rose kiosk, the basins where the model boats are sailed, and the areas where children run their dog and ride their scooters and bicycles.
Creative stitching for children
This merry go-round cross stitch pattern by Perrette Samouiloff, can be turned into a multitude of creative decorative ideas for the nursery. Instead of simply framing, you can turn it into a pyjama bag or a cushion cover. Fashion styles from The French Revolution to the Roaring Twenties
If the French Revolution rolled king's heads and spread turmoil well beyond the country's frontiers, it also revolutionized fashion styles. Designer Perrette Samouiloff takes us through an interesting voyage, picking three emblematic time periods.
First, the troubled times just after the revolution, when people gathered in the streets of Paris around a freshly planted Tree of Liberty flying the colors of the brand-new French flag. Blue, white and red stripes, worn by commoner women, became an instant fashion statement of the time.
Then to the romantic times when Napoleon wooed Josephine. Wigs and heavy dresses where suddenly done with. Graceful young ladies bared their arms, dressed their hair up in ribbons, and wore light, high waisted dresses, changing a woman's silhouette altogether, the start of the popular Empire style that would spread to the whole world.
Finally, by time that wonderful machine - the automobile - appeared on the streets, women abandoned long skirts and tight waists altogether and went for straight dresses and short hair that gave them wonderful freedom - whether to drive a convertible or dance to the rythm of Charleston.

Birds gathered amongst blooms

On a one-horse open sleigh
Perrette Samouiloff's Snow in town is a gorgeous Christmas chart with rows of snow covered houses, children on skis, sleighs and skates with little dogs chasing after them, and even a horse sleigh. The town is totally transformed by the cover of fresh snow and there is an amazing feeling of warmth and softness.
