Revolutionary times
Japanese cross stitch designer Kyoko Maruoka (GERA!) likes to cover subjects that have particularly moved and inspired her, in this case, depicting as a pair the revolutions of 1789 in France and that of 1917 in Russia.
Both designs are stunning, not only visually attractive but very powerful in the way they render the movement and determination of the people. Great art.

Ninjas & princesses
Set sail for the land of the rising sun with this gallery of cross stitch characters, heroes of Japan's most popular legends. A ninja, a princess, but also the characters of the old monk and the young priest (the latter recognizable by his bamboo broom), or the aristocrat of the imperial court, disguised as a peasant travelling the country incognito. Check our stories for each character. Design by Kyoko Maruoka (GERA!).

Portrait with floral dress
This unique artistic work is brought to you by the talented japanese designer Kyoko Maruoka of GERA! In the cross stitch portrait, the sitter's features are almost erased to better highlight the elegant silhouette and body, with a single decorative focus on the floral print of the dress.

Gnomes in every corner of the garden
You might recall the incident of the theft of all the garden gnomes in the town of Springfield (OR) which all reappeared in a single garden. The incident no doubt inspired needlework designer Kyoko Maruoka (GERA!) in turn to create this cute miniature garden landscape featuring the little gnomes inbetween tiny garden flowers, sheltering below a mushroom, swinging from a stem, brandishing a flag in the shape of a bumblebee.
Anne of Green Gables is back
Kyoko Maruoka of GERA! has now dedicated a third design to one of her beloved books, Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. You can now stitch Anne's surroundings - the farmhouse and barn, as well as her friends house, the church and schoolhouse. As a clever finishing idea, the stitched piece is turned into a bookcover and bookmark.

Cross stitch story telling
GERA! designer Kyoko Maruoka turns well beloved folktales into beautiful little needlework gems. Her work is full of poetry, nature always making its way into her work. Check out the fun row of flowers alternating with turnips or the blissfully unaware partridges about to be trampled upon by the cat in extravagant boots.

Roaming Baby Boars
A unique design inspired by the Japanese zodiac: this year is the year of the boar. Designer Kyoko Maruoka of Gera! shows the little boars roaming among flowers native to Japan, including coral red Higanbana (red spider lilies). The second design features a sparrow and forget-me-not.
In spite of everything....
It's not every day that a cross stitch designer decides to tackle such a painful subject, so let's salute the work of Kyoko Maruoka, who, with utmost delicacy, pays tribute to Anne Frank, telling both the hope and horrors of war. A design in tribute to a young girl who did not have time to live, but continues to inspire ...
Mille fleurs tapestry
The mysterious Lady and the Unicorn, a celebrated tapestry from the late Middle Ages, has always inspired artists. In this cross stitch piece, designer Kyoko Maruoka of GERA! expresses her own vision of the mythical lady and beast, surrounded by abundant and generous nature. With warm colors delicately balanced and beautiful detail, this is a gorgeous cross stitch work.
Literary inspiration
Profoundly moved by some of the great classics, Kyoko Maruoka enjoys identifying herself with her favorite characters and illustrating their stories in cross stitch. Here are designs inspired by three of her favorite authors (Checkov, Tolstoy and Austen). While these designs are very personal interpretations, we believe they also show a lot of sensitivity to the actual characters in the novels.

Blooming Girl
Inspired by Osamu Dazai 's novel, The schoolgirl, here is an exceptional cross stitch series by Japanese designer Kyoko Maruoka of GERA! Each embroidered portrait is a slice of life, with the young girl prey to reverie, at the fragile turning point when one is no longer a child, not quite yet a woman.
