Happy Childhood: The Croquet game
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Perrette Samouiloff
Cross stitch designer Perrette Samouiloff revisits Croquet, an old-fashioned game that would keep children - and many adults - having many fun times outside, struggling to get the ball through the hoops planted on the lawn. The designer, who has a wonderful talent for depicting children's attitudes, captures the game in its full intensity, with a boy and a girl criss crossing their mallets as they compete to get the ball through first, while a younger one stares at them in awe.
Given its carefully selected colours, deep yet slightly mellowed, the pattern looks stunning on a simple pure white background. There are 2 fractional stitches, for the beak of each blue tit. You can stitch the design on linen or evenweave, over two threads, however you could also stitch it on Aida, working these 2 stitches in the center of the fabric square.
