If you do not print the file straightaway we recommend you make a note of your password.
Passwords are used to protect designers and their works.
I have lost my passwords, how can I retrieve them?
The passwords can be found in your order confirmation email or if your log into your account and order.
For older patterns or if you cannot find your passwords, please contact us.
Can passwords be removed from the files?
We're afraid the passwords are required to open our files.
ACCESSING FILES FROM A DIGITAL DEVICE
Can I download and print-out my patterns from a tablet, phone?
A majority of our customers use tablets or iphones to handle their files.
Use your native pdf viewer as or pdf reader App to open and print our files.
If your default pdf app reader is not compatible, select "Open with" and see what other apps are available or download Adobe Reader or Google pdf app (free).
If you're having trouble, we can email you the file, which usually bypasses the app that is causing a problem.
Can I read pattern files on a Kindle?
We cannot guarantee you will be able to read files on a Kindle, depending on which version you have. Please make sure you can access the file on an alternative device.
ACCESSING FILES FROM WITHIN SPECIFIC APPS
Can I upload files to specific cross stitch apps?
It would depend on the app and you would have to contact the app manufacturer.
While some apps claim they are universally compatible with any pdf, we have found that it NOT always the case and many problems can occur including some apps not handling certain stitches, not managing landscape format or incompatible with password-protected files. These apps are constantly evolving and being upgraded - and we always send feedback when a problem is identified - but you would have to test if the app works for you and alternatively be prepared to use the pattern with a regular pdf viewer.
PRINTING
I'm having trouble printing from my tablet
If you can open the files but have trouble printing using a tablet, it is possible the default app being used to open the file is not compatible with pdf files that are protected by a password.
Select "Open with", or "Save" and select "Open with" and see what apps are available on your device. Adobe Reader will print files, as well as most other apps. If other apps available don't work, install Adobe Reader which is free.
A part of my pattern is truncated, what's the problem?
The pattern will resize by default to the paper in your printer (A4 or letter size) but your device/computer's current settings might prevent it, in which case apply the following procedure:
Open the pdf, go to the "File/Print" menu.
In the Print box, under "Page handling", in the "Page scaling" option select "Shrink to printable area", tick the "Autorotate and center" box and confirm with "OK".
The file is stalling in the printing process and prints only the first page (or none at all).
It looks like there is insufficient printer buffer memory for the printer to handle the whole chart. Try printing one page at a time, selecting "File", "Print" and select "Current page" or enter the page number.
Can I have my patterns professionally printed?
If you use a printing service, you need to make sure they accept password-protected pdf files. When uploading the file for printing, the process needs to enable the pop-up dialog box for entering the password. Some print shops do not, especially when only providing automated systems, but this is evolving as they get more requests. It is always best to double check with the print shop ahead.
We do however offer our own professional printing service, with chart packs printed on high quality paper and mailed out to you in a box. It's a fixed charge for any number of patterns up to 10 charts. Here is the information:

READING ON AN iPAD OR TABLET
How can I stop my ipad screen fading away?
You can force your ipad to remain lit while stitching by setting the Autolock off:
Settings/Autolock/Never
note: you will then need to use the top power button to switch the screen off when not using
Which pdf reader application do you recommend?
Many stitchers use Foxit which has useful features for creating folders and highlighting your stitching.
Do I have to enter the password each time I open the file?
You do. An easy way to remember the password is to rename the file adding the password in the file name.
Can I use a highlighter with the patterns purchased through Creative Poppy?
A majority of our files are comment compatible, which means you can use a highlighter to mark areas of the chart that you have stitched. We are gradually updating the rest of our catalogue. If the pattern you ordered is not compatible, let us know and we will send you an updated file.
If you have any questions, please contact us. We'll be happy to help and will get back in touch real soon.
