Miniature carpet
Here is Barbara Ana's interpretation of a persian rug, popular with well-to-do castle-dwelling families since the Middle Ages. We love the warm soft colors reminiscient of the natural wollen dyes used for those carpets, as well as the very personal reinterpretation of the primitive figures and motifs. A fantastic addition to Barbara Ana's primitive series.

Christmas cheer in town

It is absolutely amazing how much fun detail cross stitch designer Barbara Ana manages to fit into this Christmas pattern, not only the cat with a tree in one hand and a pot of Christmas roses in the other, but also a myriad of tiny holiday ornaments as well as a snowy landscape motif featured on the skirt. This pattern is part of a series of matching seasonal cat portraits that you can rotate with the seasons.

Barbara Ana's Winged Dreams against a mountain sunset
We love it when we hear from a stitcher who comes up with a lovely personal interpretation of a design. It shows how stitchers really appropriate a pattern, coming up with the most brilliant ideas.
In this case, Nona J., having decided to stitch Barbara Ana's Winged Dreams came across a lovely Etsy shop selling printed Aida fabrics in a great variety of atmospheric backgrounds, including this colorful sunset.
"It had all the best colors and a oncoming night sky at the top which was perfect for tones chosen by Barbara Ana." Kindly Nona agreed to share it with us.

A tribute to Portugal and its rich cultural heritage
Barbara Ana's latest dreaming girl is a celebration of everything Portuguese, from the sea, like blood running through its veins, to its rich expressive music, a complex mix of sorrows and joys. It's amazing how much detail is fitted in a single pattern, from the quartet of cats below a lampost, to the tiny harbour and numerous references to traditional Portuguese crafts, vibrant colors contrasting with the black background.
