July - Bees & Poppies
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Gracewood Stitches
Kathy Bungard, Gracewood Stitches' designer tells us about the pattern in her own words:
While not the first month of the year, ‘July – Poppies & Bees’, is the first pattern in a new series of designs in the Damask Calendar series.
July is a tangerine colored month in my mind (if you live in the southern hemisphere that might not be the same for you) and there aren’t many July flowers I love more than a poppy with their silky petals and happy demeanor.
Creative Poppy says:
We love the delicate and graceful silhouettes of the poppy flowers standing out against the orange background. This cross stitch pattern uses the Assisi style to maximise the way the floral motifs stand out against the white background of the fabric. The white is not actually stitched therefore emphasizing the outline of the design.
You may also enjoy stitching this piece in needlepoint (tent stitch) or tapestry on a loose canvas. In this case fill the voids with white thread.
