Socks for St Nick
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Tempting Tangles
'Twas the night before Christmas. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care...
The big wooly socks for father,
The fine blue floral stockings for mother,
The short red socks for daughter,
The checkered ones for her little brother,
The tiny one for the baby.
The pretty layout mimics a brick chimney, in a combination of cross stitch and long stitch. There are a couple of interesting specialty stitches in the lower border, including a double leviathan and two ray stitches in the corners. The chart comes with fully detailed explanations for working those stitches.
The piece is designed to be mounted as an ornament, on a padded board. You can make a hand made cord with your leftover threads (see photo) mounted on the side of the ornament, as well as another cord, used for hanging, fixed in each top corner and finished at both ends with hand-made tassels (no specific instructions for mounting).
