Peppermint Pig
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Tempting Tangles
Designer Deborah A. Dick of Tempting Tangles tells the story of the peppermint pig:
"In many cultures over the centuries, pigs were considered to be good luck, and owning pigs signified financial well-being. In the Victorian era, a little holiday tradition began as a way of wishing that the coming New Year would bring only good things. A little pig made of pink peppermint- flavored candy was presented to all attending of a family’s holiday dinner. The peppermint pig was then shattered with a little mallet, and each diner shared a fragment of the candy as a symbol of good luck to come."
Creative Poppy says:
The little pigs add fun and color to this otherwise classic sampler of Quaker inspiration. The mix results in a truly unique piece of needlework that looks elegant and attractive - and has a story to tell.
This mostly cross stitch pattern comes with both a color overview chart, and a detailed black and white chart. This design can be worked over 1 thread.
Bonus tip by Tempting Tangles:
"Many of the motifs in Peppermint Pig are ideal for use as holiday ornaments. Stitch as snowflakes, all in white or pastels on a darker fabric, or in your favorite colors to decorate your Christmas tree. In addition, these lacy motifs make lovely to scissor or sewing tool fobs. Don’t forget about gift tags!"
