Dreaming of Klimt
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Barbara Ana Designs
This stunning portrait is a tribute by Barbara Ana to Vienna artist Gustav Klimt. Like the works of the artist, it incorporates touches of gold and bright color, and surrounds the actual portrait with abstract motifs in hair and garment.
The layout of the design is quite unique, with a large mass of dark hair almost filling all the right hand side. The cross stitch pattern features many of Barbara Ana's favorite motifs, including the arabesque movements of the hair flowing in the wind and triangle borders framing the right side. Other elements are evocative of Klimt's work, especially the crown-like structure in the lady's hair and the bubbles of color floating in other parts of the design.
The pattern is stitched in a bright palette of DMC embroidery floss, with highlights of DMC satin floss emphasizing the golden hues, without the need for any mettallics.
