Vintage Roses - Summer Cushion
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Tapestry Barn
We just love these 4 small flower motifs inspired by 18th and 19th century printed fabrics.
Each floral design is cross stitched in solid color tones, placed side by side, as was the case with early textile prints, where the printing was done with one pass of color at a time.
The embroidery is very colorful - with no less than 23 colors. The cross stitch pattern covers the entire canvas, like tapestry. You could furthermore work this motif in needlepoint on canvas, using half stitch or tent-stitch and 6 strands of embroidery floss.
For finishing, Tapestry Barn suggests mounting into a cushion. Instructions for mounting the cushion are provided with the chart. The cushion measures 10 inch x 10 inch (25 x 25 cm) worked on 14 ct Aida.
Additional finishing ideas include stitching each small panel separately, and mounting them in a small frame or on a square box cover. Alternatively they can be mounted as colorful pockets on jeans or bags. Each motif (excluding border) is 50 x 50 stitches and measures 3 3/4 inch (9 cm) square on an 14 ct Aida.
