Designer Lesley Teare takes us into the very heart of the flower, picturing in exquisite detail the crown-like pistils and all the delicate folds of the fragile petals, skillfully playing with ten different shades of red for additional depth. 

 

The three flowers stand out against a motif of swirling leaves in the background, stitched in three solid shades of green.

 

This piece is quite a feat, considering that - with the exception of a few French knots on the pistils - it is stitched with full cross stitch only.
