Christmas Birdie Greetings
CROSS STITCH AND BLACKWORK PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Lesley Teare Designs
These adorable stitched motifs are worked in a combination of stitches creating an interesting contrast:
- the Christmas stockings are filled with Blackwork (backstitch)
- the birds are worked in cross stitch.
Stitched on 14ct Aida canvas (or 28 ct linen), each is 3 inch (7.6cm) wide by 5 inch (12.7cm) high. You can use them for cards, hanging ornaments and more.
The patterns can also be stitched vertically without the red frame on an Aida band measuring at least 36 stitches wide, and applied on placemats for example - or hung vertically like a banner.
Like cross stitch, Blackwork is a counted thread technique, with stitches represented on a grid. The chart includes some fractional stitches for detail (around bird's eyes) and comes with an extensive Stitching Guide detailing all stitches.
