Stroll on the Beach - woven picot stitch Masterclass
NEEDLEWORK PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Faby Reilly Designs
Here is a charming seaside cross stitch motif with a wave slowing ebbing on a sandy shore.
Faby Reilly introduces us to very interesting specialty stitch - the woven picot stitch, this time brilliantly turned into a cute little starfish. You will be able to practice this stitch guided by Faby Reilly's excellent tutorials.
The woven picot stitch is a fun dimensional stitch, creating a 3-D effect on the fabric and is one of the stitches used for stumpwork or raised embroidery. First a little triangle is formed, its tip fixed to the fabric with a pin, then it is filled in, weaving the thread over and under the frame until completely filled. The stitch is usually used to form petals but its pointy shape is perfect for this starfish.
Once you have mastered the stitch, you will surely enjoy reproducing it and even adding it to some other patterns. You can add different size starfishes to a seaside pattern, or flowers to a garden landscape.
The tutorial is included with the chart.
