Hardanger Christmas Crew (and Kloster stitch Masterclass)
NEEDLEWORKPATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Faby Reilly Designs
Touches of Golden thread illuminate this Christmas design by Faby Reilly, that combines regular cross stitch and somes basic Hardanger stiches, perfect if this is your first go at Hardanger.
Hardanger is a technique that is named for the mountaineous location in Norway where it used to be practiced. A geometric form of needlework, it combines long stitch and cutwork. In this instance, Faby Reilly will teach you the straightforward Kloster stitch, delicately emptied in its center.
The cross stitch part is quite colorful and fun, featuring a complete Xmas crew headed by Santa of course and including an elf, a snowman, a reindeer, and a penguin.
The Hardanger parts are stitched in golden thread. We suggest using the one you're most confortable with, such as Kreinik Fine Braid #4 (002HL) or DMC Diamant D3852.
The background features "snowflakes", tiny little Mill Hill seedbeads in color "ice".
A tutorial is included with the chart for Hardanger stitches, as well as tips for stitching beads and framing your stitched piece.
