Italian Lady
CROSS STITCH and BEADWORK PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Shannon Christine Designs
Wearing a magnificent dress in the Italian Renaissance fashion, this lady is pictured reading a book, seated on a wooden bench in a rose garden. She is designed in wonderful needlework detail by Shannon Christine Wasilieff of Shannon Christine Designs.
The lady's headdress is a florentine net cap, not really a hat, but an ornamental net that is embellished with pearls. It covers part of her hair only, with straps of beads mingling with her long locks. More pearls and jewels are hanging from her shoulder sleeves and her bodice.
There are superb cross stitch effects in the way the satin of her dress is draped, the golden inner skirt featuring a tiny embroidered flower repeat motif, and trimmed with a dark green geometric motif at the base. Suggesting the rose garden background, the design is framed with a lattice pergola in the background, with tiny roses.
There are some golden thread details highlighting the cross stitch parts, as well as three different colors of seed beads that give a dimensional effect to the stitched piece. Includes a couple of factional stitches, in particular for the eyes and mouth.
