Strawberry fair
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Lesley Teare Designs
Brought to you by Lesley Teare, this pretty cross stitch motif is loosely based on a printed textile pattern by William Morris, in particular the pair of birds. Indeed the perfectly regular and symetrical motif is typical of the designs of the Arts and Crafts movement.
Our eye is drawn to the single strawberry in the center, coveted by both birds. The decorative leaves of the other strawberries adorn the background. They are intersperced with contrasting flowers, large yellow sunflowers. All the motifs are outlined in black, emphasizing their intricate shape and ornemental effect. As the motif is detached from the background, you can stitch it on any fabric colour of your choice.
The pattern features full cross stitches only, as well as backstitch. The pattern is shown on a white background and the last picture shows the effect on a traditional blue fabric.
A tutorial is included with the chart for all stitches.
