CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Lesley Teare Designs

This lovely design features 12 different bird house motifs. As there are 12 in total, you can stitch one every month.

The design is set in a frame with each box housing a detail-rich motif of nesting birds. The patterns roughly follow the seasons, hinting at seasonal events and featuring flowers or fruit according to the harvesting time of year.

The cross stitch chart includes small areas worked in backstitch, a couple of French knots (which you can substitute with seed beads) as well as some fractional stitched for detail (bird heads).

The pattern is designed to be worked on any white background (aida/evenweave/linen) but also works well on a pastel fabric such as the grey/blue evenweave (see stitched pictures).

Creative Poppy suggestion: why not cross stitch the green frame ahead of time and fit a new motif into each box every month.
