Celadon Iris
COUNTED CROSS STITCH CHART BY GRACEWOOD STITCHES
Kathy Bungard designer of Gracewood Stitches describes the pattern in her own words:
Pottery is another of my passions. From the simplicity of early utilitarian pottery made with shining slip glazes by craftsmen across the world to intricate porcelains reflecting each country's unique style of decoration - I am captivated by the colors and images that can be achieved in clay.
In this design's background I seek to portray the aesthetic of the famous celadon pottery known as Goryeo or Sanggum and add one of my favorite floral motifs, the iris.
Creative Poppy says:
We love the way the designer randomnly stitched areas of the background, alternating two shades of color. The effect achieved is stunning, replicating the effects that light plays on porcelain.
