This is a lovely modern interpretation in cross stitch of the classic Adam and Eve sampler. It features a short verse that was popular in New England samplers in the late 18th century:
"Adam and Eve while innocent in paradise where placed.
But soon the serpent by his viles the happy pair displaced"
The text is stitched over one thread.
