Come celebrate with us
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Barbara Ana Designs
Barbara Ana loves to have fun. She proves it once again in this whimsical pattern, inspired by a scarry movie, "The Shining" and the characters of the Grady twin sisters, who say "come, play with us" in a very creepy scene.
Here the characters reappear in a Christmas scene, standing straight and stiff as if they had turned into a pair of pretty Christmas trees. Ornaments hang from their arms, and they have even grown antlers, another recurring motif in Barbara Ana's patterns.
Notice the mirror effect between the twin sisters, in particular in their eyes and eyebrows, which are perfectly similar but in alternate colors, creating very different expressions.
It is fascinating to observe how the designer manages to instill a feeling of eeriness while at the same time capturing our attention with cheerful colors and delicate motifs.
In a final touch of humor, the designer incorporates the words HAB GUBMUH in the pattern, a reference to the word Murder written the backwards in the movie. The expression "Bah humbug" originates from Charles Dickens work, A Christmas Carol, where Scrooge dismisses Christmas celebrations as rubbish.
