How about stitching this cosy little cushion to welcome family and friends into your house?

 

This project has a different pattern on each side, featuring welcoming windows with flowers pots, a friendly dog in its kennel and the house cat passing by. The cushion shaped house can stand on it's own or you can hang it on a door or a window.

 

Exquisitely designed by Agnès Delage-Calvet, the piece is stitched with various combinations of strands so that some elements come to the foreground while others, such as the curtains behind the window appear in the background, creating a dimensional effect. There a no fewer than 13 different stitches used so that this project is not only fun and pretty, it's also a little bit of a challenge for any stitcher willing to try out some new stitches (see detail below). There are diagrams for each stitch, as well as photo close ups of the stitched piece and extra clear enlarged diagrams to specify the stitches used for each part.

 

As for any embroidery project - except if you master free-hand stitching - you need to reproduce the pattern on the fabric first. There are 3 options to do so with either a transfer pencil, dress makers's carbon paper or tracing paper. Instructions are provided.
