Extra large Aida does the trick! While the cushions are big, they will not take very long to stitch. Tam's brilliant idea was to use
XXL Aida (6ct) so the design need only be 150 x 150 stitches wide and can be stitched in a very reasonable amount of time. The fabric size makes the whole difference.
6 count Aida is available from
DMC by the yard, in white or ecru. You will need approximately 30 x 30" of fabric.
Stitching:Use all 6 strands of floss if stitching on 6ct Aida and a needle Size N.22.
It can be helpful to use a tapestry frame as the fabric can be raher bulky.
Things to keep in mind when making a "Biggie biscornu":You will need to pull hard when stitching through the center to create the little hollow that characterizes the biscornu shape. Ask another person to help at that stage. Pick a pretty decorative button for the top (plain for the back) but make sure they are strong enough. Finally use strong thread, such as crochet cotton, to sew through.
When making a regular biscornu, one usually uses the same needlework fabric for both sides. However for a cushion-size biscornu, its best to use a color-coordinated fabric that will add contrast and emphasize the shape of the biscornu. You can download the
