Galactic Galliard
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Tempting Tangles
Designer Deborah A. Dick of Tempting Tangles tells the story of Galactic Galliard:
"Our solar system is composed of Earth, Moon, Sun, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury and Pluto, now considered a dwarf planet, as well as various small moons attached to some of the planets. The planets and stars represented in this design are of the most fanciful and creative type, and are not intended to be accurate, either in relationship to one another, size or color.
The Galliard was a form of Renaissance dance and music popular all over Europe in the 16th century. It seems to be, that the planets to dance across the sky – hence the title of this design."
Creative Poppy says:
This is a wonderful piece of needlework, full of creativity and movement. Designer Deborah A. Dick of Tempting Tangles has a fantastic mastery of color. Observe how the colors are balanced in this piece, including the small red hot planet on the right, and the softly glowing moon just above, half of it the the light, half in the dark.
The quote from the bible is the following:
"And God made the two great lights
and set them in the firmament of Heaven
to give light upon the Earth.
And he made the stars also."
Blackwork and cross stitch make this Bible-inspired design all the more gorgeous. Specialty Stitches include two types of Algerian eye, fan stitch, satin stitch, French Knot, back and straight stitch. The pattern comes with both a color overview chart, and a detailed black and white chart with extensive instructions describing all specialty stitches.
