Three friends, what are they up to?

There's the plump one, key hanging from her waist over her apron, grey dress patched up all over. Her broom seems to be growing into a tree.

There's the tall one, with a Quaker patterned dress. She's holding a crystal ball and a lizard is hanging from her hand. A black cat is at her feet, seemingly scared stiff.

And finally, there's one in an elegant brown dress, with a high collar and golden motifs. A crow is perched on her arm. She's holding a snake in one hand, a toad in the other.
