A Christmas tree, Scandinavian style, a bit like a knitted sweater with rows of multicolored motifs.
The design alternates 9 colors of cross stitch. It can be stitched on a black canvas, but also on a gray or natural linen background. If you prefer a white background, replace the lightest thread, an ecru, with a color with more contrast. To reinforce the festive side, how about stitching on needlework fabric with interwoven gold filaments?
The cross stitch piece measures 7 x 7 inch (18 x 18 cm) and can be framed in a 9 inch (23 cm) diameter hoop. Use a felt disc to hide the stitches at the back.
