Making Floss-tags for your favorite threads
Floss-tags for your favorite threads

Part of the pleasure of cross stitching is collecting one's favorite floss colors, expecially multicolor and overdyed threads that are such fun!
These threads deserve special attention: why not create some floss tags to better identify them. And they're so pretty too!

Patterns for floss tags:
Designer Marie-Anne Réthoret-Mélin offers several patterns in her new "Colors I love" collection

Designer Marie-Anne Réthoret-Mélin offers several patterns in her new "Colors I love" collection.
Alternatively you can select any square or rectangular part of any pattern. Ideal size is 25 x 25 or 25 x 35 stitches wide/high.

Tips:
- Keep a little free space for adding the color number
- Don't forget to stitch both sides of the tag so it's alway's pretty.

Floss tags make great gifts for stitcher friends. Send them a skein of floss in you favorite color and add a tag. Of course don't forget to personalize it with a short message!

you can give you tag a softer, puffier feel (cushion shape) by inserting some thin padding.Making floss tags:

Supplies:
- carboard and fabri or padding,
- eyelet (grommet) and eyelet kit (comes in plier shape of as a kit you use with a hammer)
- ring that opens to hand the thread or the floss card.
- floss card (optional: you can also slip your whole skein onto the ring)

Tips:
- Make sure the ring fits into the hole of the eyelet
- Look for pretty eyelet shapes available in scrapbook supplies such as the flower and heart shapes used by Marie-Anne Réthoret-Mélin.

We suggest you wrap some fine fabric around the cardboard first  to give your tag some thickness

Or you can give you tag a softer, puffier feel (cushion shape) by inserting some thin padding.

Backstitch the outline of the tag and use the whipstitching method (similar to biscornus) when mounting.

Pierce a hole though the finished tag with the tip of your scissors before securing the rivet.
