Hungarian Blue Square
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY RIVERDRIFT HOUSE
In the designer's own words:
A slightly smaller version of the Hungarian Square Sampler (see below) this time using just three shades of blue, fabulous when worked on white. You could easily switch colours to suit your own scheme, or work in the traditional Hungarian shades of red, blue and black if preferred.
Creative Poppy tip:
This sampler could be gorgeous, as well as a lot of fun to stitch, using variegated threads: Indeed each motif of this design is in a light/medium or dark color of the same shade. DMC variegated threads for example change colors over long sections. You can therefore cut lengths of floss in three different shades light/medium/dark and then cross stitch using the original chart as a guide for the color of each motif. Colors you could use: DMC 93 (cornflower blue) or 115 (garnet). The motifs will blend beautifully and there will be subtle shades within each motif giving life to the design.
