In the designer's own words:

Here is my design for the Nativity featuring, of course, Mary and Joseph with the newborn Baby Jesus warm and snug in the manger, together with angels, shepherds and Wise Men in adoration.  Oxen, sheep, weary camels, birds and the little donkey also watch on beneath the guiding star shining bright in the Bethlehem sky above to complete.

What makes this nativity design unique is that, like other Riverdrift House cross stitch patterns, it was created in the manner of a sampler, with plenty of detail and many decorative motifs and borders.

The layout is interesting too, with distinctive groups, such as the wise men on the right, the shepherds on the left, the angels in the sky, all forming a frame around the central motif of Baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
