Breton Folkies (Britanny, France)
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY RIVERDRIFT HOUSE
In the designer's own words:
“Dressed in their beautifully hand-embroidered costumes with magnificent lace head-dresses, our Breton Folkies step out for the Great Sunday Parade for the Festival de Cornouaille. The far north west of France is surrounded by ocean, and I have included much of the maritime life of the area, with a traditional fishing boat, sardines and fruits de mer amongst the bright blue nets (Les Filets Bleus is another annual summer festival), sea birds and the La Jument lighthouse, with famous smashing wave. Together with motifs from the wonderful embroidery and some border designs inspired by the pretty hand-painted designs of the Quimper pottery, I added a couple of medieval buildings together with flowers and some faience pottery. ”
Creative Poppy says:
Riverdrift House's Folkies, are cross stitch patterns featuring couples wearing traditional folk costumes of different regions. We love the one for Bretagne featuring a man in the cnter and two women, each with a different lace head-dress, which differ depending on which village she is from.
