Commedia dell'Arte
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Perrette Samouiloff
Commedia dell'Arte theater appeared as early as the 16th century in Italy with troupes performing costumed and masked. Characters had distinctive costumes that helped the audience recognize them.
This unique design by Perrette Samouiloff features five of the original characters including a masked Harlequin, with his characteristic costume of diamond shaped color patches; Pedrolino, all in white; humped and pot-bellied Pulcinella with a sugar loaf hat; Scaramuccia playing the violin, and sweet Columbine.
