The design is evocative Christmas, but remains above all decorative. You can display the stitched piece in your home well ahead of Christmas.. As the grid fits into a square, it lends itself to both to framing, or as a central motif in a cushion cover. It can also be used to embellish a box lid.

Depending on your project, you can extend the border motifs laterally, if you need more width. You can also use one of the border patterns to complete a project (say the side of a box), or reuse for other projects such as stitching a border on a tea towel, etc.
