Here’s a selection of patterns where designers used specialty threads – as well as a few beads - to enhance their stitching and make it really festive.

Metalic thread brands

There are many ranges of metallic threads available, including Anchor Reflecta and DMC Light Effects with one of the largest range of metallic floss colors available - many hues of gold and silver as well as luminous bright colors with a dozen jewel-like effects. DMC now also has a beautiful DMC Diamond metalic Gold and silver on a spool, but a limited range of colors.
Kreinik's Very Fine (#4) Braid is soft and easy to use, with a fabulous range of colors, but depending on your country, the colors may be hard to find. Note: Kreinik's blending filaments are a category apart, much thinner and fragile and often mixed with a single strand of floss.
Whenever possible, we will try to list widely distributed brands in our patterns because sourcing supplies can be a lot of hassle for stitchers - alternatively we try and offer commonly used thread substitutes when available.
