Seafarer's globe
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Maria Diaz
The Seafarer's globe is a beautiful and elegant pattern designed Maria Diaz in the manner of an antique nautical map.
The cross stitch design features a map of the world, with two views of the globe side by side and various marine motifs exquisitely arranged around it. Neptune rules the marine world, surrounded by mermaids and other sea creatures. A galleon and compass complete the picture.
The piece is stitched in soft hues of sepia and blue floss, which provide a slightly faded look, and golden metallic highlights.
You can play around with your choice of fabric to reinforce the antique look, either by selecting a marbled or hand-dyed needlework fabric, or by dying or staining the fabric using natural dyes such as coffee, tea or onion peel.
