Winter House Sampler

Brought to you by Lesley Teare, this classic cross stitch sampler is a delight to stitch with regular symetrical motifs on either side of the work. The focus is on the elegant Georgian home, typical of the English countryside, and its front garden surrounded by a wooden fence. Yet, as your eye travels down, you will discover pair of red robins surrounding a potted tree - each with a worm in its beak. Christmas roses are now in full bloom and a pair of deer roam the park. Christmas is just round the corner.

Stitching is pretty straightforward with the pattern featuring full cross stitches only, and a couple of backstitches for detail such as the wooden gate of the fence. French knots used for birds' eyes and the hearts of the flowers. 

The design is worked in a lovely palette of warm browns contrasting with the red and green of Christmas to come. Those colors look realy striking against the black Aida fabric.
