Brought to you by Lesley Teare, this classic cross stitch sampler is a delight to stitch with regular symetrical motifs on either side of the work. The focus is on the elegant Georgian home, typical of the English countryside, and its front garden surrounded by a wooden fence. Yet, as your eye travels down, you will discover a potted apple tree heavy with fruit, and a strawberry plant in the foreground with rabbits leaping across the green lawn.
The pattern features full cross stitches only, a couple of backstitches for detail of the bee's antenna's and the birds feet and beak holding a worm, as well as French knots used for eyes and the hearts of the flowers. The latter could easily be susbstituted with beads, should you prefer.
The design is worked in a lovely palette of warm reds and luscious greens, against black Aida for maximum contrast.
