Shaker style sampler
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Lesley Teare Designs
The Shaker movement, a Christian religious group that originated in England, developped in North America as of the late 18th century. Practicising an alternative lifestyle based on their religious beliefs, the Shaker lived in large communal dwellings that housed all members of the community.
This sampler pays tribute to the purity and simplicity of life practiced by the Shakers.
It comes in soft but cheerful colors. Symetrical in its construction, and framed by two characteristic multistoried Shaker dwellings in each corner, the cross stitch pattern includes a central Tree of life, and pairs of birds and potted plants echoing each other on either side.
The pattern features a couple of fractional stitches for detail (birds for instance). A tutorial is included with the chart for fractional stitches.
