This cross stitch sampler, part of a year-round seasonal series with one for each season, features a house with a black roof functioning as a blackboard of sorts, announcing the arrival of Winter. The date can be personalized with the year of your choice (numbers included).

Designer Lesley Teare's fun idea is to depict the house with Quaker style windows and door. The sky is filled with quaker style stars. While the design is quite understated, with a wintery feel and lone birds perched on the tip of two evergreen trees, the heart shaped ornaments add a festive touch. Colors are understated, yet soft and warm, with just the right contrast to stand out against the natural background. 

The pattern can be stitched on 14ct Charles Craft Aida (color Platinum) or any natural color fabric of your choice.

A tutorial is included with the chart for the 2 fractional stitches in the design (bird's beaks).
