This cross stitch sampler, part of a year-round seasonal series with one for each season, features a house with a black roof functioning as a blackboard of sorts, announcing the arrival of Autumn. The date can be personalized with the year of your choice (numbers included).

Designer Lesley Teare's fun idea is to depict the house with Quaker style windows and door. The house is surrounded by squirrels and beehives, with plenty of bees buzzing around. Two trees, heavy with ripe apples, arch towards the house, blackbirds perched at their tip. Colors are soft and warm, evocative of autumn foliage and stand out against the natural background. 

The pattern can be stitched on 14ct Charles Craft Aida (color Platinum) or any natural color fabric of your choice.

A tutorial is included with the chart for the 2 fractional stitches in the design (bird's beaks).
