This is the full cross stitch version of the Blackwork Wren and Scabious flowers

A tiny wren sits amongst tall scabious flowers and a scattering of Summer butterflies. There are lovely blue tones to stitch in the scabious flowers, which contrast with the earthen colors of the wren.

The circular cross stitch design, which is surrounded by a delicate border of smaller flowers, makes for a delightful picture to stitch. You could also stitch the inner design on itself, skipping the floral border and frame your work in an embroidery hoop.
