Hibiscus and Hummingbird
BLACKWORK PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Lesley Teare Designs
Almost as in a dance, a tiny hummingbird approaches a hibiscus flower, with petals wide open and stamen reaching out, ready to polinate. The Hibiscus flower is exquisitely depicted in Blackwork, each of its large petals containing a different motif and creating a textured effect.
This pattern is designed in a mix of cross stitch and Blackwork, in Lesley Teare's signature style. It is beautifully embellished with golden seed beads, used for the flower's stamen.
Like cross stitch, Blackwork is a counted thread technique, with stitches represented on a grid. A majority of stitches are backstitch, with some cross stitch filling certain areas. The chart comes with an extensive Stitching Guide detailing all stitches including fractional stitches.
