Christmas Table Runner
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Lesley Teare Designs
Red and golden metallic thread adorn this elegant table runner that will add a festive touch to your Christmas dinner table.
Stitching is easy and regular, with only full cross stitches and backstitch. While Aida can be used, the designer recommends evenweave fabric as a couple of backstitch lines (strings "holding" the ornaments) run in the middle of a stitch for perfect symetry.
Creative Poppy says:
An ideal fabric would be 25ct Lugana by Zweigart, an easy to stitch evenweave that is also crease free. As for linen, stitch over two fabric threads.
On 25ct needlework fabric the finished piece will be bigger and measure 10 1/2 inches wide by 28 inches long ( 27 cm wide by 71 cm long).
The design is shown on a white background, however you can chose alternative colors, in particular a natural background.
A good choice of metallic thread would be Kreinik #4 metallic Braid, in any metallic color you fancy.
Note: Use of metallic thread means that you should use caution when washing and especially ironing. Follow manufacturer instructions.
