Blackwork Easter designs
BLACKWORK PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Lesley Teare Designs
These small round motifs are worked mostly in Blackwork (backstitch) but do however incorporate some cross stitch which accounts for the lovely blue hues in the background. Because of their size, they are ideal for beginner Blackwork projects, as well as making small items such as coasters or the lid of round or square boxes. Each motif measures less than 4 inch diameter on 14ct fabric.
There are golden metallic highlights that add glitz to the green and blue motifs.
Designs include a rabbit, a daffodill, a chick and a camelia flower.
Like cross stitch, Blackwork is a counted thread technique, with stitches represented on a grid. A majority of stitches are backstitch, with some cross stitch filling certain areas. The chart comes with an extensive Stitching Guide detailing all stitches including fractional stitches.
