This pattern depicts the beloved tale taking place on Christmas eve. While The nutcraker is best known for the musical ballet written by Tchaikovsky, the original story was written by Hoffman in 1816, hence the date featured on the pattern.

In the background is the Christmas tree, with beriboned gifts at its foot. Characters featured are the Nutcracker, little Marie's favorourite toy, the doll, a trumpet and the Mouse king and his soldiers, ready for battle. 

The pattern is stitched in bright Christmassy colors, en hanced with white, on a beige background.
