This design is by Kateryna, a cross stitch designer based in Ukraine, drawing her inspiration in folk tales and nature, in particular her beloved magical forest.

Featured here is a marshland teeming with life. Queen Frog - judging by her eyelashes it is a she - is sitting on her trone in the middle the pond and is surveying her realm, a full moon giving her a hand. The pattern is symetrical with pairs of animals, storks swallowing a worm, ducks and swans hiding among the aquatic flowers and reeds.

The pattern is worked (photo) over 2 threads on a pretty olive green evenweave (32 Ct. Zweigart Murano Lugana 3984/6016 Olive) but can alternatively be stitched on a green, grey, beige or natural background
