This is the story of Pan Kotskiy brought to us in cross stitch by Ukrainian designer Kateryna.
Mister cat, or Pan Kotskiy as he is known in her home country, is a character of a very popular folk tale.
This is a very funny story about an old cat, grown too old to serve his master, having to leave his comfortable home for the dangers of the woods.
All of a sudden, he meets a clever lady fox who unexpectedly offers: "Be my husband"
Though a fortunate chain of circumstances, the cat will gain respect of all the wild and frightening animals of the woods.
The fun part of the story is the depiction of the married pair and the contrast between the canny and active woman fox and the lovable but passive cat. This is very clevely rendered in cross stitch with Lady Fox tenderly watching over Mister Cat lazily lying on the table as all the other animals gather with respect, each carrying some delicious food.
