Folk Costume with Red Kerchief
COUNTED CROSS STITCH CHART BYÂ Â IVETA HLAVINOVA
Â
Â
Designer Iveta Hlavinova is very interested in the regional folkarts of her country, Slovakia. Â Traditions are still very much alive and local villagers love to wear their magnificent costumes for song and dance festivals and other gatherings.
Â
This design, like the pending Folk costume with White coiffe, depicts a summer folk dress. The white blouse with beribboned short sleeves and gathered collar is layered with a richly embroidered bodice with neat little buttons. The bell shaped skirt is embellished with a smaller apron with a characteristic woven design. The red knot  positionned in the center show this is a young maid (married women would wear it sideways).
Â
This is a very interesting design to stitch because of the richness of the detail, but you will also be rewarded by it's vivid colors and decorative effect.
