Here's the Twilight Ornament by Gracewood Stitches, a prism-like play with light, that looks almost like a crystal. 

Designer Kathy Bungard says:

Twilight has always been my favorite time of day. Here on Gracewood there is no more beautiful evening than those we
get on a clear cold winter night. The snow white mountain tops stand out starkly against a cold blue sky that as the sun
sets suffuses our eastward view in soft dusky pink that then turns to a pale violet deepening in hue until it turns a deep
dark violet and the evening stars stand out brightly above the mountains. We're reminded of the star that shined
brighter than any ever did announcing the greatest good news the world has ever known ~ 'Joy to the World, the Lord is
come'~

Creative Poppy recommends a jewel-like finish using beads. A tutorial is included with the pattern to guide you step by step.

The cross stitch design is perfectly symmetrical so you can hang it by one of its tips as featured or rotate it slightly and finish it as an octagon (which would make a perfect coaster) - see lower picture.
