Traces of Lace - Spun Plum
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Gracewood Stitches
The inspiration for this unique cross stitch design is the process of spinning, as if multiple wheels were turning at the same time.
Spun plum is part of the Traces of Lace collection, designed by Kathy Bungard of Gracewood Stitches. Like the other cross stitch patterns in the series, it is inspired by lace making, with the lace pattern placed on a color background, as if shown against tainted glass, with the light coming through.
The piece is stitched in two colors of floss, light and dark plum. The lace pattern itself is not stitched. This technique is called the Assisi stitch, highlighting the pattern appearing in the original fabric color (here white).
The Traces of Lace series feature various lace motifs on different color backgrounds. The designs are all the same size so you can to stitch a pair or a series (such as cushions, of framed displays). Designer, Kathy Bungard, mounted her stitched work into a patchwork to hang on a wall and offers a tutorial with the cross stitch chart.
