Matryoshka Needlework set
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Gera! by Kyoko Maruoka
Here's a wonderfully creative idea, by Japanese designer Kyoko Maruoka of GERA!
She came up with this amazing idea of creating a series of cross stitch Matryoshka - those little nesting Russian dolls - using the same basic pattern but adapting the needlework fabric count so that each doll is a different size.
Her second neat idea is to turn each of these cross stitch dolls into a needlework accessory. The tiny matrioshka is a pin-cushion, the medium-sized doll will hold your embroidery scissors, while the larger doll hides a little tape measure.
Extensive instructions are included with the chart to guide you through mounting each accessory.
Note: the large felt pouch with a zip on its size is not part of this cross stitch project. You can however draw inspiration from the close up picture if you'd like to make one of your own.
Warning: stitching these matryoshka's may become addictive. Using the same base design, you can make tons of these little dolls that will make great cross stitch gifts. They can also be hung with a little strap to cell phones and to keys.
