Here's the Nativity Humbug, Faby Reilly's cute cross stitch ornament featuring a miniature nativity scene wrapping all around the ornament. The humbug shape is ideal, with the central motif of Mary, and Joseph surrounding baby Jesus,ox and donkey on each side, and sheep at their feet.

 

The style of the design is very pure, with couple and baby essentially depicted through their silhouettes, clad in blue for Mary, brown for Joseph and beige for Jesus. A feeling of peace and tenderness emanates from the scene.

 

While apparently effortlessly simple, the design is really quite rich. No fewer than 20 shades of colours are used to express the nuances and there are many highlights with various specialty stitches and threads. The chart comes with extensive instructions for all specialty stitches as well as for the finishing stage, in particular the super-cute star embellishment at the top.

 

The ornament is about 4 inches / 10 cm high, which is larger than Faby Reilly's other humbugs. It can be placed on a mantel piece (as pictured) or suspended on a tree.
